WIOA grant from Workforce Development Agency, State of Michigan awarded to Detroit Literacy Coalition

The Workforce Development Agency (WDA) in the Michigan Department of Education is a recipient of the WIOA grant for 2016-17. The DLC will use funds to offer basic literacy skills to adults in several institutionalized programs in the Detroit area to meet the priorities of WIOA. This WIOA grant is intended to provide classes that focus on each of the 4 primary academic courses of the GED test (English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Social Studies and Science) - skills required to become gainfully employed in any occupation.  All students are required to attend DLC's Career Pathways/Development classes for occupational preparation. The DLC program is oriented to get students prepared to enter into the workforce or post secondary institutions. The grant will end June 30, 2017.
