Career Workforce Development

Career Workforce Development

The Detroit Literacy Coalition offers a Career Workforce Development class, designed to have adult learners learn basic typing techniques to improve their dexterity and keyboarding skills. These skills come in very handy when taking the GED exam online or completing application forms when seeking employment.  This class also entails teaching participants how to 1) establish short and long-term academic and career goals; 2) develop a 5-10 year plan of action; 3) explore college programs of study; and 4) understand the types of applications needed to enroll into post secondary institutions or job training programs. The class utilizes the employment/training resources and social service assistance of MI Works! Agency.
