DLC's DREAM SUITE

DLC's DREAM SUITE is designed to strengthen basic literacy skills, promote computer literacy and self empowerment opportunities. Learners are engaged in this highly inspiring writing program while learning MS Word and PowerPoint. This interactive program begins with learners exploring and highlighting their childhood dream of "what I want to be when I grow up!" The goal is for each learner to create a dream book based on this theme and present it at the end of session. The idea is phenomenal because it gives learners an opportunity to tap into their hidden and/or dormant creativity to enhance learning, self esteem and personal motivation.

Past successes include instant poetry writers and entrepreneurs. One of the learners now makes and markets handmade purses for sale.

SEEKING INTERNS

Several Wayne State University students serve as interns in the DLC literacy outreach and learn first hand how to motivate and teach computer, reading and writing skills.

The DLC welcomes students seeking internship opportunities in service learning, adult education and community service administration from neighboring community colleges and universities.
